Gifts are always a hard topic.
In August of 2016, our lives intertwined even more when we bought our house on Crosswater Loop. At our ages we pretty much have everything we need for our home and as such are not planning to join any registries.
Please know that your gift to us will be to share our day in Sedona. You do not need to bring another gift.
However, that being said, I know some of you will feel it necessary, though it really isn't, and what we decided was to ask for gift cards to help us with our new home repairs and improvements or if you would like to contribute to our Adventure Fund, that would also work.
Gary, although having been in the military, has not travelled the U.S. or the world. I who travel every chance I get, am now going to take Gary on as many adventures as I can while we are still able.
Our new home is lovingly called the "money pit". Normally homes need repairs every once in a while but no, our home is needy and in frequent need of attention. We are always at Home Depot for something, so much so that I'm pretty sure the employees know Gary by name.
Love this store!!!!!
If we're not at Home Depot then we are here, shopping for our home repairs.
Please join Gary & I at Red Chopstick for our family dinner. They are rated 4 stars by Yelp and recommended by the resort. If you would like to look at their menu, please copy and paste the below site into your browser bar. https://www.facebook.com/RedChopstick/

Alex is my joy! He has taught me to see the world differently. I learn from him every day. Especially when he says "You wanna hear a fun fact?"
Jenny & Tony never leave a dull moment when seeing them. I wish I had their sense of timing. They know how to make a person feel at home.
My best friend! Enough said....
Now I know where Gary gets his sense of humor. It was a pure joy to meet Norman. He had me in stitches frequently.
Libbi is an inspiration to me. She amazes me almost every day.
We recently had the opportunity to spend time with Karen while she was in Phoenix. I'll never forget her nickname for a little brown Fiat as we were driving to breakfast. This woman has a wicked sense of humor! Love it!
Can't leave out our furry relatives!
Matthew just graduated from High School and we had the honor of attending. We are so proud! Loved spending time with Jenny, Tony & Heather!
I think I will let Gary tell you about his "surprise"! He worked so hard to give me the romantic proposal I was hoping for. What a man! I said "please make your proposal memorable and romantic" and gave him nothing to go on. He stepped up to the plate and struck that ball out of the park!
As Tanja said, she wanted it to be a romantic proposal. We had already discussed getting married and had picked out our rings although, they weren't supposed to be ready until after Valentine's day. I talked the jewler into having her rings ready for me to pick up on Valentine's day as I had already planned to pop the question that night. I made reservations at a nice restaurant that, as it turned out, Tanja had never been to. I talked to the manager and had made arrangements to have a dessert brought out to us after dinner with "Will you marry me?" in chocolate writen on the plate and her engagement ring on the plate. They were amazing! (Shameless plug for the Flying V Bar & Grill at Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort here). After dinner the manager himself brought out the plate pictured to the left. They also presented us with a couple glasses of champagne for the occaision. I wish I'd have had a video of Tanja's reaction! Even people around us were pointing and watching. One gal even offered to take our picture so we would have it for our album. Needless to say, it was one of the happiest evenings of my life! Thank you Sweetheart for saying yes.
Gary & I met when we worked next door to each other before the NSRA moved offices. Sometimes you meet someone and you know this person is "it"? Well...that was not the case for me but Gary definitely became one of my best friends quickly and I enjoyed my time with him.
I was one of those people with their head in the sand and it wasn't until a very large 2 x 4 hit me, metaphorically speaking, that I realized Gary was a very good idea. When I suggested dating might be an idea to explore, it was met with a quiet agreement.
Little did I know, my favorite man was jumping up and down inside. He kept that little tidbit to himself for about a year and then only let it slip and couldn't back down from the news. My love for Gary didn't slowly grow, it was like a bomb that hit me very late one night. I haven't looked back since.
In August of 2016 we bought a home together, much to the dismay of a few, and although we weren't married, made a lifetime commitment to one another. I never thought to remarry but find I am excited to become Mrs. Tanja Clark. I can't wait to share it with our families and friends!
Several years ago, when I first met Tanja she worked in an office next door to where I worked. I knew she was someone special but had no idea just how special she would become to me. I looked forward to sitting and having a cup of coffee with her before we opened our respective offices and often hurried to get to work early for just that reason. For me, there was a bond already developing. When she would be gone on her business trips, I didn't care about getting to work that early. I should have known then that this was more than just "friendship".
When we started "dating" I was both overjoyed and scared. Overjoyed that Tanja was wanting to take our relationship from friendship to courting and scared that if things went wrong, I could lose a friend that I'd already come to love. Fortunately, it worked!!
In December of 2015 Tanja and her son Alex moved in with me and we sold her house. We quickly realized that we needed a bigger house and the following August we bought one together that fit our needs. We knew that we were commited to each other but neither one of us was ready to actually get married yet. We still wanted the option to walk away if things didn't work out. Well, we finally decided that we were ready and on Valentine's Day I planned a nice dinner out and secretly planned on setting everything up to be able to "pop the question". It all worked smoothly and Tanja agreed to become my wife. I am SO looking forward to spending the rest of my life with this AMAZING woman.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I left there after joining the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and got stationed in Tucson in early 1983. By the time I retired from the military, I had been here long enough to call this home. Since retiring from the Air Force I've had a few other jobs but as of a couple years ago am fully retired. I met Tanja while working at my last job and well, you can see where that friendship has taken us.
After my divorce in 2001 I swore I was not getting married again. I told God that if he had a woman for me, He would have to hit me upside the head with a 2x4 to get my attention because I wasn't looking. Well, I think He actually used a 4x4. We have been living together for over a year and it has been nothing short of amazing.
I'll try to make this short as most anyone reading this knows me.
I originally come from Kirkland, WA but moved to Tucson in 2007. I needed sun but wanted to stay close to my mom, naturally I chose the place she winters. Moving to Tucson is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I have a much loved son, Alex. He was my best decision! He lives with me and Gary completing my immediate family. I love that he and Gary have bonded. Alex is not an easy person to get to know but somehow Gary managed to slip under those defenses and vice versa. I truly feel blessed. In 2014 my sister and I reconnected. I am happy to have her back in my life and thrilled she will be at my wedding!
I work for the National Shoe Retailers Association whom I joined in 2009. I am their Membership Director, Event Planner & Office manager. I have amazing co-workers and a very patient boss.
My favorite activities: motorcycle riding with Gary, shopping with my mom and vacationing!
I hate it when no one lets me know what the dress code is and keeps me guessing.
We are going on a Pink Jeep Tour, the ride will be bumpy and we will be walking on red rock and dirt. Please be aware that the red dirt can stain if it gets on your clothes. Pink Jeep also has a strict policy on closed-toes shoes.
We are going to ask for guests to wear "Wedding Casual" which means men should wear dress slacks, chinos, twill or deck pants with a button-down shirt, preferrably short sleeved because of the weather or a polo.
Women should wear a summer sundress, skirt, capris or pants with a nice blouse.
Whatever you wear make sure your clothing is comfortable and you bring a jacket in case it gets cool.
We chose Red Chopstick as everyone we asked liked Asian cuisine.
We have arranged for our guests to be picked up at Poco Diablo Resort rather than fighting downtown parking. We will be picked up in front of the resort lobby at 3:30pm. The tour leaves at 3:40pm.
